Rümeysa Çalışkan was born in Hamm, Germany, where she was also raised. She began her legal studies at Bielefeld University, where she completed the first half of her education. During her studies, she completed four semesters of legal education in Turkish, through which she gained an early academic foundation in the Turkish legal system.
She continued her legal education at the University of Münster and successfully passed the First State Examination in Law in 2023, completing her specialization in criminal sciences.
Since April 2024, Rümeysa Çalışkan has been completing her judicial traineeship at the Dortmund Regional Court. As part of this traineeship, she initially worked for five months with a civil law judge at the Hamm Local Court, gaining practical experience in civil procedure. She subsequently spent three months working with a criminal law judge at the Dortmund Local Court, where she acquired experience in criminal proceedings.
She completed her administrative traineeship at Dortmund Prison, during which she developed a particular interest in prison and correctional law.
Following this, she completed a nine-month legal traineeship at a law firm in Dortmund, focusing primarily on civil law and contract law matters, and actively participated in the resolution of various legal disputes.
In December 2025, Rümeysa Çalışkan moved to Istanbul to complete the final phase of her judicial traineeship at GA Law Office. Through this traineeship, she aims to gain comprehensive insight into the Turkish legal system, its practical application, and the Turkish judiciary.
Rümeysa Çalışkan speaks Turkish as her native language and is also a native-level speaker of German. In addition, she has a good command of English and Spanish.
