Prof. Dr. Gülsün Ayhan Aygörmez, LL.M. (Bielefeld) is the founder of GA Law Office and a lawyer registered with the Istanbul Bar Association. Her principal areas of practice and academic expertise include criminal law and criminal procedure, economic criminal law, medical and health law, and environmental and climate criminal law.
She has taught Turkish law at the Faculty of Law of Bielefeld University since 2004. Since 2013, she has conducted courses and academic activities at various universities in Türkiye, particularly in criminal law and criminal procedure, environmental and climate criminal law, and medical criminal law. Since 2019, she has taught German-language courses in environmental criminal law and economic criminal law at the University of Kassel in various semesters and has participated in international and comparative-law academic projects.
She graduated from the Faculty of Nursing Sciences at Ege University in 1999 and from the Faculty of Law at Kırıkkale University in 2003. In 2007, she obtained her LL.M. in criminal procedure from Bielefeld University. In 2011, she received her Dr. iur. from Bielefeld University for a comparative study on the General Part of Turkish and German criminal law. On 15 March 2017, she obtained the title of Associate Professor in Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure in Türkiye, and in 2022 she was appointed Professor.
For her professional activities in Germany, she is registered with the Berlin Bar Association as a Turkish lawyer pursuant to sections 206 and 207 of the German Federal Lawyers’ Act (BRAO). She is also included in the list of German-speaking lawyers maintained by the German Consulate General in Istanbul.
